ABOUT TECHNO-DRY

Techno-dry was founded in 1975 under the name of Techno-Stir di Poli by Mr. Antonio Poli. Mr. Poli originally designed a completely new innovative system to press clothes. The company grew very rapidly due to the unprecedented demand for the presses, which brought a whole new concept to the idea of quality. He rapidly acquired additional factory space and added more employees to keep up with the demand for such trouble free machinery.

The company also built custom machines to suit any need. In 1977, the many satisfied customers who purchased the presses, demanded Mr. Poli to build a world class dry cleaning machine. He had the design already for over 4 years, even prior to building the presses.

In early 1978 the first TECHNO-DRY dry cleaning machines were introduced to the dry cleaning industry. The public response was unbelievable. Mr. Poli needed to increase the factory size again and added over 15 more employees.

The Techno-dry machines were primarily sold to major industrial users, from textile mills, tanneries and of course the leading dry cleaners in Italy, Sweden, and Germany.

In 1994, Mr. Poli took into his employ a leading sales engineer in Italy, Mr. Paolo Sbrocchi. In 1996 Mr. Sbrocchi became a partner in the company.

Mr. Poli refused to sell machines to the U.S. He was very upset that Americans seemed to buy all of Italy's low end machines. He was under the impression that the entire American market was dedicated to buy on low bid.. and the heck with quality.

Mr. Sbrocchi had a long-term business relationship with a Texas individual, Mr. Charles Gelfand. Gelfand had 40 years experience in the dry cleaning business in the U.S. - from being an owner of 12 stores to being the National Sales Manager for one of the leading dry cleaning and laundry machinery manufactures in the world.

At dinner one night in Italy, Gelfand told Poli that he was correct, that most of the machines sold in the U.S. were of very poor quality, however that isn't the fault of the U.S. purchasers. It's the fault of the exporters and the importers that brought this phenomenon on to the U.S.

Gelfand explains there are a whole new genre of buyers of machinery in the U.S. and Canada that demand the very best machinery, and have a genuine concern for the environment. He was able to convince Mr. Poli to reconsider his erroneous belief that Americans only want to buy low-end machinery.

Gelfand was working on a design for a new system of filtration and distillation for dry cleaning machines. He showed his design to Poli and said with his filtration and distillation system and Poli machine this will be the leading machine for the world.

Mr. Sbrocchi brought to the company a broad new approach to sales, and through his friendship and acquaintance with a Mr. Charles Gelfand rapidly expanded sales Techno-dry into the United States.

Gelfand and Sbrocchi collaborated on the design for a new way of cleaning the fluid in the dry cleaning machines, one which will give the consumer quality which before was thought unattainable, at the same time reducing the solvent emissions to near zero. The cost of dry cleaning was brought down to what they were 30 years ago. The owners and landlords were amazed that such a machine is available, and the sales of Techno-dry machines are soaring to new heights in the U.S. and the rest of the world.
